okay, i might've lied when i said the album got serious after track 3, its not quite sulky yet. funnily enough, these were the first words i wrote concerning my breakup, in the first verse there. afterwards, i guess a little crazy on my new freedom, i just decided to write about the usual decadence and weird sex metaphors. i recorded this in my backyard, in new jersey, on my phone. i like doing these sort of informal recordings, so that's why the quality's different.
lyrics
i don’t know why it is you do
twist in my head like an old corkscrew
rusting down
pinning my brain to the wall
so you can show it to your friends
ill juggle and do magic tricks for them
and they’ll laugh
for my rabbit and my mad hat
i threw up in the bathroom stall
i saw jesus with arms crossed
shaking his head
wagging his finger at me
baptize me in that oatmeal slush
slow down now no need to rush
grabbing my head
laughing with the flush
swing me, silly, spill my beans
peel me squeeze the tangerine
i think it’s fresh
but you can spit out the seeds
and plant a brand new tree for the yard
and sing songs to it like some bard
a dear old gnome
piping his flute through the sun dome
Really gotta give Squat! a listen, I've got a bunch of pals in this band. My pal Pete is super riotous drummer, Matt is a warm-hearted madman and Tom is a guru at making surfy psychedelic melodies. Erk
