Prologue
04:51
|
|||
when the love ran dry
my brothers and I
fell out of the stars
and we split up, searching.
and desolate drylands
made one sand and stone
with a grit walking stick
and river green paradise
sent one fog-eyed into
beauteous pleasure
and I, doggy-paddling
through confusion tides
built a ladder high
and Love trailed absently behind

Take Me Home
07:19
|
|||
when the blood red moon
says I'll be home soon
don't think I'll run
well, bury me right in the grass
don't need a coffin to rot away
no, no...
don't think i'll make it through the snow
when mother makes it cold again
no, no...
got holes in my shoes
and somebody else stole my coat.
I give myself up to the moon,
don't take me later, take me soon
I choked myself on a silver spoon
and let the tallgrass lick my wounds
take me home,
take me home,
with mother I can't be alone.
I've been running
all my life
but I won't run
from that dark, dark night.
I've been running
all my life
but I won't run
from that bright, new light.

City
05:21
|
|||
bad time
to walk the line
cowboy's gotta gun
I think I gotta run
on that california grass...
sour song in the city-
the sweet swell of passersby
they never give a damn
or give a dime
to the man with the beautiful mind.
I asked an old man:
do you know how keeps the time?
who are the fool who write the books,
who are the fools who drink the wine?
"I don't know no men sir,
each one an intricate disguise..."
cloaked in power, choked on wine,
that man was very wise.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
how night seemed to suggest
swimming in romance
how night seemed to make
hearts glow brighter
sometimes there was paranoia-
eyes could be anywhere-
serial killers, drunk drivers, cops...
whatever the present day boogey-man
happened to be...
but in the night amongst that
soul-glow, that whisper-hum,
women were lovelier,
friends were funnier,
fights were rougher,
winds were calmer,
silence was soothing.
who kept such magic into their adulthood-
lightning bug bouncing off glass mason walls...
if you forsaken such a thing, why?
it will save you
it will prepare you for your dreams
sing truly with the crickets
'till you float back down from
our shared kingdom of stars gleaming wonder.

(nocturne never-ending)
i pray you find your own mind
which lingers in billboards and
beckoning neon seductresses,
bank brunches and lousy lunches
Fox News at 10
CNN at 9
our world could crumble at 7 or 8
“hopefully one of them covers it”
i whimper for a clumsy parade of lost minds
i've swam the seas of ignorance,
and the water was warm,
but cold water gifts young eyes...
quite a kick...
solidifies endurance, electrifies roots...
try throwing cold water on a friend,
they might just wake up. . .
gaze into your own mind
which cuts itself and loves itself
fetishizes forthcoming demise
licks lips lazily awaiting love
but lurks in self indulgent sadness
until dreaming…
you want a thing you don't understand.
love and hate are of one seed
take back your own mind
from those who made you love them for life
nagging nagging nagging mama
please please let them put the leash on
midas machine member enveloped in
soft souring infantile flesh- early sunset...
it's not your fault you're a greedy selfish monster
drooling over God in his cardboard crown
you walk the streets shivering as
suspicious squinting eyes form like
brain pimples and peek out pushing
up lids
you know you know you know. . .
but tell me if you feel
that if
electricity ceased in times square
there would still be light

sweet melancholy
single daisy in room of no furniture...
dust collects under the door-
blankets the window sill...
a single finger trails
into airborne waltz-
noiseless music,
hushed archaic ambiance...
solitary puddles commune
embracing soil-
shelter from the looming gray...
single hole reveals cloud portrait
as dismal droplets bring forlorn flood
onto hardwood...
puddle reflections reveal a child's footsteps
fossilized as laughter mingles with birdsong in
spring air...
the wonder of a new tree
the harp strings of heart
moved under a shy stream
resembling Mother's eyes
in school the daisy wove a warm cloak-
he wears it streets of moving mystique-
a soft shell to hide Eden, a thread of shame...
umbrella men, where are your eyes?
do your lungs exhale gentle gymnopedie?
puddle growth
ocean evolution
tides rise, windows hold sturdy
as the scenery is wiped away
and clouds part...
what remains over eternity's sea hovering?
pure innocent radiance of gold enveloping
lightly levitating angel-
Mother's eyes, Mother's eyes...
in slow sweeping rhythms
she weaves daisy a new cloak of dove-white...
serene
ceremonial
slow
sunrise

First Glimpse
05:09
|
|||
first glimpse of humming dawn
still a way to go-
came to a thin trembling town
they ask "where will it go?"
I don't know
if its falling or rising
I've got to go
follow horizon
I heard an oak tree's song
I read a willow's rhyme
one was bold, but wearing thin
the other felt more like a cry
it said: it's time,
pull horizon
and all the time
the tides kept rising
and it sounded like some twisted
king of hymn
ever-distant
forlorn whisperings...
(refrain)
when the blood red moon
says I'll be home soon
don't think I'll run
well, bury me right in the grass
don't need a coffin to rot away
no, no...
don't think i'll make it through the snow
when Mother makes it cold again
no, no...
got holes in my shoes
and somebody else stole my coat.
I give myself up to the moon,
don't take me later, take me soon
I choked myself on a silver spoon
and let the tallgrass lick my wounds
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Love is falling down my cheek tonight
Love is settling on the corner of my mouth
it tastes like ocean wishes, sunset kisses,
strawberry cheeks and chocolate eyes...
Love is demise
Love is surrender

Scratches
08:05
|
|||
is Mother dying?
i hears strange new sounds late at night...
train screech
car wail
but
yet no one for miles...
love wakes up-
quick fix of grass to hold her over till clasping hands with her man
thick clouds are putty to a mind leaking
thoughts and memories of mirror reflections...
cigarette corner-
grime disguise-
a man slaps her ass as he walks on by
he collapses onto all fours
mouth frothing foam which metamorphosizes into
crimson rivers-
he chokes...
Jim warned about drowning in desire
Syd was the piper before dawn
Dylan was, Hunter was...
Allen saw sinking madness and happily departed...
waves of dissatisfaction and anger
threatened to topple our trite monuments
wash over city infections
church cult jailhouses
halls of human destruction-
all lost to The Flood.
new eyes will gaze upon the Phoenix Sun.

Piper's Song
10:25
|
|||
Piper sings down the street
traded in his flute for some strings
wondering what the morning brings
with his hop-scotch walk
going down to the store
picking up his old shoes
hard travelin hot foot blues
he's early, so he sits on the curb and he sings:
i don't know much about this crazy place
i keep waking up in
i don't know much except that it thrills me
as i sail with the wind-
paper skipping through the alley-
like a petal blown through the plains-
i don't know where i'm going
i just know that love awaits
for me
and you
while we sing down our blues
Piper's friends are two long shadows
that sing his strings the blues
from his wise old homely pa
he's carrying some late bad news
sinking on a white dove mattress
his wrinkled eyes seem new
his sweet smile slowly spreads
as his words swim throug:
don't let your tears soak through your mind
don't let your sadness sink your ship
disregard a darkness looming
stiffen up that prideful lip
El Dorado waits for me-
a paradise symphony
lurking in my every action
calling out in my dreams
for me...
you'll go there too
when you conquer your blues
hallow steps ring forlorn
lurking down lonely street
spark ignites burnin bush
as lover's eyes first meet
travelin' in twos, to share the blues
not so much to hold
singing songs with harmonies
till both their hearts grow old...
nothing sings quite a tune
like prophesy, fully fulfilled
incomplete souls reign free
white dove sings through loves hills
Piper grins as he looks down
at the sun made silhouettes
grinning back as his mind clears
suddenly it all makes sense
how them two
came to woo
she's got a shadow too

No Man's Gonna Free Me
04:34
|
|||
no man's gonna free me, not me...
they'll chase you, yes its true
right out the blue
they're after you
but you may get away
that day's today
and here they're coming...
they won't catch you if you run away,
my friend
they won't catch you if you run away,
run away!
they're not me and you
two funny people
laughing away
ballet feet on wind
through meadow mind
blooming divine...
o'er forbidding hills
where Sunlight's will
sends flowers whistling
and make it yes we will
through the arches
of golden seeing...
they won't catch you if you run away,
my friend
they won't catch you if you run away,
run away!
out of sleep unto
the sacred noon
weaved by Love's loom
out into the day-
the birdsong waves
sing seas to calmness
they won't catch you if you run away,
my friend
they won't follow over raging waves,
they're for the brave
they won't follow out of their own graves,
my friend
they can't catch you if you run away,
run away

Earth
09:08
|
|||
singing silver
moon deliver
sacred sinking Sun
color runs
a shred of bliss rests on horizon
moonlight may rake the tides in
sprinkle spray of stars-
milkyway's sweet bard
what does it mean when the edges bloom?
ritual
of the mystical
tune
noon
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
a single star is shining in space
it smiles upon the human race
and even in their crooked ways
it shines on
and all the people close their eyes
they meet the day with new demise
but they all love to see their Sun rise
and it rises on
on its own the sea seems to move
a lone wolf howls at the moon
and it dawns not a minute too soon
that it's not on its own
two hands meet under crystal eyes
gazing up to the miracle sky
and soul's reflection ceases to hide
when it swims in their eyes

Bodhi Svaha
07:24
|
|||
follow me,
down this foggy
path we must take
through the dawn
I’ll be ahead
if you get lost
ill follow you
if i trail behind
and it's a blue sky
sapphire as the night grows close
obsidian night
as we drift on moonlight home
you may just realize
you might just know
you may just realize
it's set in stone
come with me
between the oak trees
please do not doubt
their fruitful love
water pebble grass
tickles yr’ feet as you pass
they only wish
to show you Love
in tune to sunrise
let's be what we are
let your lips harmonize
with the whispering pines afar
you may just realize
you may just know
you may just realize
you're always home
and as the day
floods into spring of may
our petals spread apart
let in the Sun
and then we'll know
what awaits after we grow
the sacrifice
of light to time
we sink with twilight
the flood rushes over the hills
into this dark night
chant the old, the lost and the ill
you may just realize
as your form begins to roam
you may just realize
you've a long way to go
and you're always going
you're always going
hail the goer
you're always going
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Let me build you a house,
let me place some sturdy stones by the
feet of our old wise wooden front door
let me encourage the grass
it can be so shy when it’s cold
let me paint the clouds over the sky
sing the radiating warmth of the Sun
conduct the wind to blow through
our half opened dusty windows
musky books too, weary paged
reveal just as much.
stare out at the ocean
Mother’s great womb,
from whence we grew
carried by currents
floating formless until
sprouting through surface
we wash our feet on golden sand.
time’s shore preludes
our realm
that river pull
pure imaginary
and yet breathing
alive
life
we share this
we pass this on
we dance our whirlpool minds
back into
loving stillness

Sunlight
08:11
|
|||
Sunlight
drippin' on our heads
highrise
won't reach heaven yet
a stoney sidewalk will not grow
with Love and light, even the crow
sees the same sky I do
same ol' Sun that I do
sunny cups of morning tea
hun, cheer up, even the bees
see the same sky I do
same ol' sun that I do
Sunlight
singing from a stream
in time
She'll hold us in our dreams
don't you ever look right past
the way she loves the way she laughs
it's the same ol sky that i see
same old sun that i see
i love us kids and the songs we sing
and Mother, She's in everything
same old sky that i see
same old sun that i see

Cocoon / The Flood
17:11
|
|||
here we are
look what we've done
didn't you know that we were there before we were gone?
ain't it something?
at this height-
all of the darkness is as beautiful as the light
- - -
in december I fell in Love
why? I don't know
but in the springtime I worshipped the Sun
why? I think I know
well, it reminded me of Love
- - -
Jainist ponderings
Krishna mind
heart wrenches
senses divine
sorrow tides
joyful waves
color miracle
flower saves
river justice
current laws
chuckling frog
gives no pause
beatle passenger
growth consume
wind ambition
bliss cocoon
mischief snake
petal boat
fins of zen
formless float
- - -
O, gentle lambs of sky,
run not from the sacred storm
but ride with it
hidden garden, trace of Eden,
where the sacred cow roam,
take shelter from the storm
under our wooden bridge...
live on
roam on
live on
roam on
live on
roam on
- - -
to lay unsinking on murky brackish-
to think nothing and hear nothing
to simply slip out of form
my ears offer strain;
dog crawls whimpering
it's back legs broken. . .
Sun rises around me
haunting silhouettes sting my
eyes
they moan and groan
i've hurt them
they want to drown me as
morning orange fades to yellow. . .
honey, i want to feel their hands on me
pulling me down
i could sleep forever. . .
i could bathe in my thick
wet cement slumber and feel
my muscles kick and scream
forced to do what
purpose warned not to-
to remain still. . .
i may dream forever.
but if i awaken-
i will drown in light.

Epilogue
04:34
|
|||
downtrodden brain
hangover mind rain
after the headaches have ceased
san diego washes my feet
Mother's warm bath in palm tree fingers
a lone mischievous lemon tree lingers-
not all the fruits of your labor
will bear sweet flavor
but desire not golden sweet
and you'll find heaven in defeat
a jester in a sour moment
a silver cloud among bad omens
- - -
Ram peers out-
and we, not a single hand
nor yet whole finger...
but a gaze upon a gaze
a massive, reflective whirlpool
beckoning divine self-realization
The Titan takes another step
Christ gets back on his feet
a Great Gear rolls and rolls and rolls...
bards with eyes of citrine
sing old songs in new melodies
-cars on highway emulate foretelling winds
distract not your neighbor's gaze
if aligned with the sunflower...
- - -
atop Fate's summit
banshees wail
to the forsaken
in their meager bones,
have eyes that see your
heart decayed,
look not long!
pay no mind, no mind
to the undead's hungry eyes
but instead to the clouds
as they part-
curtains to a more infinite heart
and through its cracks
souls escape
close your eyes
feel only the cold
follow breath to new relief
a fair distraction-
Ram holding melancholy
cheeks in warm hands
woe disperses
memory wheezes
senses join hands
the final silhouette paints
a man dancing
a great dance
a great fire
a great Love.
